Flu Histories

The historical background of infectious virus notes from separate place and time, to take note is the flu virus. The flu virus is one of the ever evolving virus that cost too much devastation through separate time lines. The disease itself has attacked titanic numbers of both human and animal lives. The disease, known to all for its destructiveness, yet its past is unknown to some.

The Spanish flu or popularly known as the 1918 flu pandemic was cited to be the most devastating epidemic ever recorded in world history. It has killed a total of 50 to 100 million citizen worldwide within a year, taking more lives than the black death bubonic plague in Europe. This virus is a deadly strain of avian influenza that erupted during the final stages of World War I. Spain at those times is the only European country that did not suppress the news on the outbreak, other countries did to safe their morale.

Flu originates in separate locale, one example is the Asian flu which was first identified in China. The flu spread during the 1956 until 1958 from China to its neighbors in Hong Kong and Singapore all the way to Us. Worldwide deaths estimates ranges to about 1 to 4 million people.

The 1968-1969 pandemic initialize in Hong Kong, dated July 1968, and thus named it Hong Kong flu. The Hong Kong flu killed an appraisal of one million lives worldwide. From Hong Kong, it moderately crept at the borders of Asia in Vietnam, Singapore, India and Philippines. The virus did a great leap, escaping the neighborhood of Asia journeying to the Australian and European territories in the same year. In 1969 it has gone worldwide infecting over the globe.

The flu virus is like a traveler that rides in separate planes and take route separate cities. One flu that start in the Asian territories is the H5N1 virus or commonly known as the Avian flu. The first outbreak was in 1987, spreading through separate countries in Asia namely Indonesia, Vietnam, Laos, Romania, China, Taiwan, Turkey and Russia. The outbreak in Thailand caused weighty economic losses and tried to flee Asia and travel through Europe via two smuggled eagles to Belgium. Luckily, the birds were seized when discovered to be infected with H5N1 and immediately culled and destroyed.

Often referred as swine flu, the 2009 flu pandemic is a new strain of H1N1 influenza virus from the blend of triple flu virus from human, pigs, and birds that added combined with a Eurasian pig flu virus. The first outbreak was in Veracruz, Mexico. Until now the A/H1N1 gears to threaten health health of the public.

Flu is one of the diseases that made devastation in the global health condition, casualties ranges from millions and may be even more. History teaches us that diseases like flu can evolve and work on public health in separate timelines.
